Day to Day Itinerary:
- DAY 1: DEPARTURE Depart from SFO or LAX by Singapore Airlines
- DAY 2: KATHMANDU Welcome by our representative with a garland with cheerful smile and transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit to Swayambhunath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Sqare. Swayambhunath Stupa, dedicated to Buddhism is situated in a hillock 80 meter above the ground level and is claimed to be 2000 years old. There are numerous Buddhist monasteries around. Kathmandu Durbar Sqaure, one of the seven World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Valley is worth visiting. You will visit the Hanumandhoka Palace of Malla Kings. Overnight in Kathmandu.
- DAY 3: KATHMANDUIn the morning, visit Pashupati Nath Temple, the holiest Hindu Temple that draws devotees from all over Nepal and India. This temple is situated on the bank of Bagmati River, which is considered as holy as Ganges. Cremation goes throughout the days and nights on teh bank of Bagmati River. THen you will drive to Boudha Nath Stupa, the biggest Stupa in the world. This is one of the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Valley. From here, you will drive to Bhaktapur, one of teh three principalities of medieval Kathmandu. You would love to see the 'Golden Gate' of the 'Palace of 55 Windows'. There are temples with intricate woodcarving, houses with different kinds of windows and balconies, stone scuptured water tanks, monastic complexes, etc. Overnight in Kathmandu.
- DAY 4: KATHMANDU Visit Patan City. Here you will visit teh main courtyard of Malla palace, which is adorned with intricate woodcarvings. In front of the palace stands famous Krishna Temple of 17th century, replica of Viswanath Temple, Jagan Narayan Temple, etc. You will also visit Hiranyavarna Mahavihar (Golden Temple), a 14th century Buddhist Monastery that is the center of rites and rituals of Newari Buddhist of Patan. In the evening, drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.
- DAY 5: KATHMANDU-KODARI-ZHANGMU In the morning, depart Kathmandu by surface on a scenic drive to Kodari (Nepal-Tibel boarder), through the beautiful Nepalese countryside. Start a short walk of about one hour uphill with porters to Shanmu Immigrations known to Nepalese as Khasa.
- DAY 6: ZHANGMU-XEGAR Drive uphill to the highest plateau of the world with the typical view of Tibetan landscape, crossing over NYalam Pass and Lalung-La, with views of beautiful Himalayan Ranges panorama including the Mt. Everest to Zhangmu. Zangmu is another town that lies in the shadow of a great fortress. Even in ruins it is majestic. Seeming to grow out of the craggy borwn rock, its sinous wall bristles with watchtowers wlike stegosaurus spines. Isolated in 1855 by Nepalese in seach of booty, the Gurkhas cut off the Dzong's water supply and settled in for a long series. Overnight in XEGAR
- DAY 7: XEGAR-XIGATSE Continue to drive to Lhatse (T-cross to Mt. Everest) and crossing over the Gyatsola Pass, which is the higest enroute to Xigatse. Xigatese is teh second largest town in Tibet and the capital of Tsang. Overngight in Xegar.
- DAY 8: XIGATESE-GYANTSE In the morning, visit Panchen Lama's Tashilhumpu Moanastery, and continue on our drive to Gyantse. As a crossroad on teh principle trade route to India, it used to be renowned for the excellence of its carpets. The compound, encircled by on impressive wall, once contained 19 monasteries, presided over by the still intact fortress perched atop a nearby mountain. Later in teh day visit the Kumbum Stupa and Phalkor Monastery. Overnight in Gyantse.
- DAY 9: GYANTSE-LHASA Continue on a full day picturesque drive crossing over Karola Pass and a colorful Yamdrok Lake, sometimes along the Tibetan lifeline river Brahmaputra also known as yarlung Tsangpo. Overnight in Lhasa.
- DAY 10: LHASA Visit the Jokhang Temple, situated in teh heart of Old Lhasa, its houses Tibet's most precious religous relic, a golden Shakyamuni Buddha which was brought as a gift by the Chinese Princess Wen Cheng on teh occasion of her wedding to the Tibetan King, Songtsen Gompo. Surrounding the Jokhang Temple is the bustling Barkhor Market place which is teh religous and social focus of Lhasa. Later in teh day visit the Potala Palace, this legendary palace built atop a single hill synonymous with Tibet by the first foremost king Songtsen Gompa. It was expanded to its present structure during the 17 century by the 5th Dali Lama. This served as the headquarters of the former "church-state" of Tibet and was home to successive Dalai Lama, who from the latter half of the 18th century used it as their winter palace. Overnight in Lhasa.
- DAY 11: LHASA Day free at leisure in Lhasa. Overnightin Lhasa.
- DAY 12: DEPARTURE Early morning, you will be picked up from your hotel to be transferred in time to Gongaar airport to connect your flight to Kathmandu for a flight to your next destination.
